Being the #1 in your own life
I used to not drink enough water during the day. Why?
Because I felt like I didn’t have time to take a bathroom break. I didn’t have any free minutes in my day.
My friend Laurie and I have a joke: is it a full body lotion day or not? It means: do I have the time to put lotion on my entire body this morning, or do I just have time to do my arms today? I admit that sometimes I allow myself to feel like I don’t have the time.
This might be in the TMI (too much info) category, but I’m sure that you can think of at least one instance when you forego being with yourself, in your body, because there is some pressing, more important matter.
In fact, many women I know live in that permanent state; if not constantly caring for others, then taking care of business, errands, and the hundreds of other things on our list.
It’s not simply a matter of how unhealthy it is in the long run, but it is stressful on our being, our spirit, and our body on a daily basis. We become less resilient, less focused, less efficient every day, not more.
What would it feel like to take 2mins right this moment to close your eyes, feel the contact of your body with the earth and simply follow a few breaths in and out?
It’s simple and easy, and you can do it anywhere, anytime.
I guarantee that everything that is urgent and important will still be there, but you will feel a little less overwhelmed and more present.
Try it – I would love to hear from you.
